Here we are, a few months into the new year and I’m already starting to feel a positive shift in my energy. There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel with this pandemic and I’m already daydreaming about what I will do when life returns to “normal”. In the meantime, I’ve been treasuring the soft light of the late-winter/early-spring sun and have been spending a lot of time outdoors. Additionally, I have thankfully broken through my reading rut and have been sooo happy to get back into my reading routine. Here are a few things that I am currently loving…
- Theme of the year: “And so, she decided to start living the life she’d imagined”. I cannot tell you how much this iPhone wallpaper download from This Little Street means to me. I saved the image to my Pinterest account a long time ago and it stayed in my mind. Over the past few months, as my ideas for starting a blog and changing my life began to coalesce, this quote and image found their way back to me. It’s a mantra that I repeat to myself several times a day as I begin this journey to better my life.

- Emma: This newest film adaptation is currently streaming on HBO Max. I saw the movie in the theaters about a year ago. It was one of the last things I did before the COVID-19 lockdown began, so the memory of seeing this movie stands out to me in a strange way. I LOVED it when I went to see it the first time. My mom and I went together, and we had both re-read the book right before seeing it. I also LOVED it the second time around when I streamed it about a month ago. It is visually stunning, the music is funny and perfect (I also bought the soundtrack which I highly recommend if you are into movie scores), the acting is impeccable and it was just so light-hearted and funny that it gave me a little high for a few days afterward. I highly recommend it and I might even watch it again while it is still on HBO Max.
- Currently reading: The past few months I have been focusing on the blog, so my reading slipped a bit. However, I’m getting back on track and just recently finished Men Explain Things To Me by Rebecca Solnit and Freud’s Sister by Goce Smilevski (check out my post on Instagram if you want to read a bit more about what I thought about Freud’s Sister). I’m still working on Good and Mad by Rebecca Traister. I’m really glad I’m reading this book, but I can only read about 20 pages at a time because I get so worked up about what she is writing about (😡lol). I’m also continuing to read The Joy of Living by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche which is also going to be a book that takes me awhile to finish. I like to just read a few pages at a time as part of my ongoing meditation study; it’s not a book that you sit down and binge (at least not for me). Finally, I started Second Nature by Michael Pollan and The Awakening by Kate Chopin this week. So far I’m liking both of them and hopefully that will continue.
- Spring playlist: This past weekend I was pulling weeds in my front yard. Not necessarily my favorite task but I had a lovely time being outdoors in the gentle light with a soft breeze and listening to my Spring 2021 playlist. Head over to my Spotify to listen to the playlist. It really set me in the mood to have chill vibes, enjoy the outdoors and get excited for spring!
That about does it for me! Be sure to follow me on Instagram if you want to see more of the day-to-day things that inspire me. I hope you have a great rest of the month!
